Tahoe Icemen swept in Las Vegas, open two-game home set Friday

LAS VEGAS — The Tahoe Icemen went to Las Vegas for an interdivision series Oct. 1-3, and left without a win. The Icemen were swept by the Las Vegas Storm in a three-game set at Las Vegas Ice Center, and are still seeking their first win after eight games.

Tahoe fell 3-1 in the series opener on Thursday, Oct. 1. John Moffat scored the team’s only goal in defeat, a third-period score assisted by Phillipe Pepin — that goal tied the game, but Las Vegas responded with two unanswered en route to victory.

After a 6-0 loss on Friday, Oct. 2, the Icemen dropped the series finale by a 9-2 margin the following night. Artsiom Surmach and John Scherer scored for Tahoe in the seven-goal defeat, with Maksim Akimychau, Garrett Boehm and Seth Hatley recording assists.

Tahoe (0-8) returns to action at home for a two-game Northwest Division series against Vancouver (4-0-0-1) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena starting Friday, Oct. 9. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. for both Friday and Saturday’s contest.
