VACAVILLE, Calif. — The Tahoe Snowflakes synchronized skating team shined on the ice last Sunday in All Stars competition. The event hosted by Vacaville Ice Sports was an artistic showcase competition sanctioned by the Ice Skating Institute.

The Snowflakes’ production number, which consisted of all the skaters from all the teams, placed first in its category. Also in first place was the oldest of Tahoe’s synchronized age-group teams that primarily featured South Tahoe Middle School skaters along with a pair of fifth graders.

Meanwhile, the Snowflakes’ two younger teams placed second in their respective categories. After Sunday’s competition, Tahoe will be adding a pair of first- and second-place trophies to their trophy case hosted at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.

Tahoe skaters also fielded a couple and seven solo events at the competition in Vacaville. Solo skaters Olive Hamner-Jillson and Summer Furrer along with the couple of Olive Hamner-Jillson and Kiara Furrer were selected by the judges for an encore presentation of their routines.

Assistant Coach Alex Furrer and junior coach Summer Furrer were at the event preparing skaters to take the ice, judging other events, coordinating parents to prepare the props and keeping the children safe; choreography and training by head coach Susan Campbell-Howe made everything run smoothly. The Snowflakes thank its skaters for representing Tahoe, parents and family for their support and congratulates all on a job well done.

Next months, the Snowflakes will host the ISI District 14 Championships at SLT Ice Arena. The event known as Skate at the Lake will be held June 14-15.
