Trebotich, DeLallo shine at Babe Ruth tourney

The pitching of Otto Trebotich and Max DeLallo carried the South Lake Tahoe 13-year-old Babe Ruth all-stars into the district tournament.

South Lake Tahoe won a district qualifying tournament Friday through Sunday in Truckee. Behind six innings bump work from DeLallo, South Lake Tahoe defeated Fernley 13-6 on Friday. Trebotich pitched the final inning.

The two all-stars reversed their roles on Sunday, with Trebotich pitching six innings and DeLallo one in a 5-3 win over North Valleys. Gavin Chandler had a two-run hit to lead the offense.



South Lake Tahoe also received a forfeit win over Lyon County on Saturday and finished the tournament with a 3-0 record.

South Lake Tahoe will start district play on Saturday in Reno.



All-Stars finish district tourney

South Lake Tahoe’s 11-12 All-Star team lost to Carson American 11-1 in its final district pool play game on Friday night in Reno.

South Lake Tahoe took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jamie Yelles led off with a single to center, advanced to second on a hit to left field by Rigel Garman. A groundout moved both runners up a base, setting up a shot to left by Moriah Lane that was snagged by the left fielder. Yelles was able to tag up and scamper home with South Lake Tahoe’s lone run.

A second-inning walk by Troy Amacker, a third-inning single by Alex Vogt and a fifth-inning double by Wade Norberg accounted for the South Lake Tahoe’s remaining baserunners.

Julian Washalefsky started on the mound for South Lake Tahoe and gave up three runs in three innings.

South Lake Tahoe finished tournament play at 0-4.

STHS football, cross country teams working out

South Tahoe High School football and cross country teams are continuing their preseason workouts this week.

The football team trains from 8 to 10:30 a.m. today and 2:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday. Interested players should show up in a T-shirt, gym shorts and tennis shoes or cleats.

Meanwhile, the cross country team is training Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. They meet at the high school football field.

In addition, the football team will have a parent/coaches meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. following practice at the Field of Dreams.
