Last week several adult ski racers from Truckee turned in solid results at Snowmass, Colo., during the Far West Ski Week races.

Under great snow conditions and sunny skies Monday, six Truckee racers gave all they had in two grueling slalom runs from the Tahoe Donner Senior Alpine Ski Club and the Cabernet Ski Club. Under more sunny skies at Snowmass on Thursday, 11 local racers raced on a long giant slalom course, in which the fastest overall time was 1:22.65.

More than 150 racers participated in the races throughout the week.

Paulette McGregor finished third in the GS in 9 Vet Women; Nan Brown took first in both the slalom and GS in 9 Super Vet Women; Bob Ferwerda took second in the GS in 7 Super Vet Men; Nan Carnal took first in the slalom and fourth in the GS in 6 Super Vet Women; Donn Bryant swept the Legends class with first in both the slalom and GS; Robin Reese finished fourth in the GS in 5 Vet Women; Ron Kahn dominated his class in the GS with a first place; Nancy Ellis swept her class with two first places in slalom and GS in 4 Vet Women and received a strike to move closer to the next class; John McGregor took first in the GS in 3 Super Vet Men; and Bob Ellis took second place in both the slalom and GS in 0 Vet Men.

The Tahoe Donner Senior Alpine Ski Club also finished second in the Costume Division at the Council Challenge Race on Friday.

The Tahoe Donner Senior Alpine Ski Club and Cabernet Ski Clubs are both members of the Sierra Council, which won the Council Award for the week over the other 10 councils participating in racing.

The Far West Ski Week will be in Beaver Creek next January with about 500 expected participants.
