Vikes eke out win in regular season finale

The South Tahoe boys basketball team outlasted Fallon Friday night, defeating the Greenwave at home in a 53-51 overtime win.

The Vikings scored the lone points of the extra frame, holding the ball for most of the overtime period. Guard Tim Sprinkles led South Tahoe scorers with 11 points.

The Vikes trailed 19-11 after one quarter and 31-30 at halftime before outscoring Fallon 21-20 in the second half to knot the score at 51 at the end of regulation.

The win gave the Vikings a 21-5 overall record and a 11-1 mark in divisional play. South Tahoe’s only blemish in Division II action was a Jan. 15 home loss to Wooster.

The Vikings will host Elko in the first round of the zone tournament Wednesday. The Indians, who STHS has not faced this season, lost at Reed Saturday night, 72-64.
