Vikings beat Reno Huskies

The Vikings didn’t have much trouble Tuesday taking their second 4A Sierra League win away from Reno.

The Vikings defeated Huskies in four matches 15-6, 15-7, 11-15, 15-4 at home.

“It was a little sloppy but a win is a win,” said Viking head coach Gary Hankoff.

Hankoff said Reno was pretty athletic, and that they were better than last year.

“But we kind of played down a little bit. Our intensity wasn’t there,” he said.

The team was ahead by several points in its one loss to Reno in the third game but couldn’t close out the victory in three.

“We still are not closing out the games the way I’d like … Once we get to 12 it’s time to finish it … We definitely have to learn how to get some killer instinct,” Hankoff said.

Hankoff further said that he’s been tampering with the lines to determine the players’ capabilities, which is likely taking its toll on team performance.

“We have so many people that can play so many different positions I haven’t found the lines that I’m happy with,” he said.

Rachel Hankoff led the team in kills with 22 and 19 digs.

Right behind her performance-wise was Cindy Davis with 11 kills and and as many digs with a team high 4 service aces.
