Vikings blank Hug, 7-0

South Tahoe defeated Hug 7-0 at Hug Wednesday to remain in first place 6-0-2 and undefeated in the 4A Northern Region Sierra Division.

Like the girls’ soccer team, the Viking boys came out slow, but pulled it together to defeat Hug solidly.

“We came out a little relaxed, but we got it straightened out,” said Joe Winters, head Viking coach. “They only had like 10 guys there eight minutes before the game, so I think the guys had a hard time taking things seriously.”

Victor Mariscal scored two goals, Alex Torres had a goal and an assist, as did Corey Vermillion and Leon Abravanel. Enrique Avina also scored, and a Hug defender mistakenly scored on his own team.
