Vikings lose to Wooster, Reno

South Tahoe High’s girls basketball team dug itself a hole in its quest to make the playoff by losing twice over the weekend.

Wooster center Brianne McGowan scored 12 of her game-high 26 points in the third period as the Colts pulled away from the Vikings for a 62-48 victory on Friday in South Lake Tahoe.

Jen Galea and Lindsay Hitt had 14 and 10 points, respectively, in defeat.

Hitt tortured Reno with 34 points on Saturday but the Vikings lost 79-45 on the road.

STHS (1-4 in the Sierra Division and 9-10 overall) plays host to Hug on Tuesday.

They are all-important. If we’re looking at making run at the playoffs, it’s an important game for us,” said Viking coach Tim Jaureguito.
