The South Tahoe High cross country team continued its success Wednesday, running to first-place finishes in both the girls and boys races in a 4A three-way meet at Spanish Springs in Reno.

Chris Cosmi and Hudson Wilvers anchored the boys 3-mile race with 18:04 and 18:11, respectively.

“Hudson has been really strong all year and Chris had a real good race today so that’s real good news,” Viking coach Dominique Westlake said.

Five South Tahoe runners placed in the top five, sealing an easy 21-point victory for the Vikings. Elko came in second with 63, while Spanish Springs had 128.

“It’s good to see that the guys are starting to come on,” Westlake said. “But we are still in fourth place (in league) so we’re gonna have to get after it.”

On the girls side, Amber Ramos finished first overall with an 18:11, even after stopping for 30 seconds after she became confused on which route to take.

Also running well for the Lady Vikings was Erica Zampardo with a second-place finish at 23:00. Marin St. Michel was third with 23:23, while Caitlin Robinson and Cecilia Cuevas finished fifth and sixth with 24:03 and 24:16, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 for the girls was Anna Lambdin’s ninth- place 24:45.

Overall Westlake and girls coach Kathy Bluethman said they were very impressed with how their teams performed.
