Vikings to open wrestling season

The South Tahoe Viking wrestling team is starting with a bang today with its first match of the year against league foe Douglas at South Tahoe High School at 5:30 p.m.

Under head wrestling coach Jack Lopez, the Vikings finished 2002 in fourth place in the 4A Northern Region Sierra League at 3-3. They finished 10-16 overall.

The Vikings attended a clinic Nov. 30 at San Francisco State, which was an unofficial opener, said South Tahoe Athletics Director Don Borges, but this will be the Vikings first league match.
