Warriors stay unbeaten in 2A

Staff report

Whittell remained unbeaten in the Northern 2A League with a three-game road sweep of Silver Stage on Monday night.

Behind Jordan Reeder’s nine kills and Kendra Koskin’s eight kills, the Warriors downed the Nighthawks 25-15, 25-14, 25-15.

Reeder also contributed three aces and two digs, while Koskin had four aces and a pair of digs. Also for the Warriors, Lauren Andrew had four kills and three aces, Brittney Makara served two aces and Isabel Concha-Foley delivered three kills.

“We’re starting to play some better ball,” said Whittell coach Dan McLaughlin. “We’re finally starting to get consistency in the lineup, and we’re finally starting to come together.

“Yes, I thought it would take this long. Remember, with so many new faces to have to put into place and inexperienced players we were counting on to carry the load, it just took a while to get people in the right spots.”

Whittell (6-0 in league and 8-3 overall) will play at Damonte Ranch on Wednesday before travelling to Las Vegas to compete in the Durango Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
