Warriors sweep Yerington

Tribune Staff Report

Both Whittell High soccer programs had successful results in Yerrington Wednesday, with the girls cruising to a 5-2 victory and the boys notching a 5-4 nailbiting win in the final minutes of their 3A soccer match.

Nestor Flores scored three goals, including the decisive goal with five minutes to go to seal the victory for the Warrior boys.

On the girls side, Jenna Hayes put in two goals of her own in a game Warrior coach Mike Leeper characterized as “sloppy at times.”

Other scorers for the Warriors were Janette Bak, Allison Dunleavy and Kaitlin Green.

Both Warrior squads will get back on the pitch Saturday when they face Lowry at home.
