Westover released

Tribune Staff Report

Former South Tahoe High pitcher Forest Westover was released by the Long Beach Breakers of the Western Baseball League on Tuesday.

“At this point in time we do not have any comment on Forest since he did not make our final roster,” said Collin Schoenfeld, an assistant general manager for the Breakers.

Westover, who helped lead the Vikings into their last postseason appearance in 1994, was trying to make the Breakers as a reliever.

“He was probably the most naturally talented and gifted pitcher we’ve had on the South Shore,” said Reve Ramos, his former coach at STHS. “(Shawn) Estes had nothing on this kid.”
