GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — In its 2015 debut, the Whittell baseball team decisively equaled its league win total from a season ago. The Warriors blasted Pyramid Lake 24-2 in five innings for a lopsided victory Tuesday at Lampe Park.

Whittell (1-0, 1-0) IV Northern) scored eight runs in the second inning and 12 more in the fourth en route to victory over the Lakers. Freshman Peyton Galli went 4-for-5 with a double, two triples and five RBIs while throwing two scoreless innings in the win.

The Warriors return to action Friday in the Yerington Tournament held at Smith Valley High —they will play two games Friday and two more Saturday as part of the tournament. Next Tuesday, Whittell returns home to face Mammoth (Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) in a doubleheader — the first game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
