Whittell cross country team meets area competition at Reed Invitational
Whittell High’s cross country team traveled to Reed on Wednesday afternoon for an invitational featuring teams from 21 area schools.
Jeremy Worley was the top boys’ varsity finisher in 41st position out of 106 runners. The Warriors took 13 boys to the meet.
On the girls’ side, Christina Arana was the top varsity finisher out of six Warriors.
“She ran a really good race, even though she was halfway injured (foot),” said Warriors’ coach Lindsay Wines.
Wines also credited Michael Komorowski for sticking out his injuries to finish.
“He’s been struggling this year with cramps and trouble breathing in all his runs,” she said. “Really, I was pleased with the way all the kids ran. Their times have been getting better and they are more focused on what they need to get done.”
On the junior varsity side, Sho Kashima and Jared Duffy finished first and second for the Warriors, while Camille Abelow was the girls’ JV top finisher.
