The Whittell volleyball team continued roughing up opponents with a Thursday night win over 4A Spanish Springs on the road in four games.

The Warriors, playing in the Northern Nevada 2A League, won the match over the Cougars with scores of 25-22, 25-12, 19-25 and 25-18.

“We struggled in a couple of areas but found other ways to win,” said Whittell coach Dan McLaughlin. “We are truly playing as a complete team right now. We weren’t handling their serve particularly well but we served 17 aces on them and we had eight stuff blocks.”

Kelly Karmann recorded eight kills, 11 points, six aces and six blocks. Katrina Kacirek had three kills, 12 points and six aces, Anna Kingman added three kills, six points and an ace while Jessica Woods had four kills, 11 points, five aces and a block.

Jackie Marino was credited with 20 assists for the Warriors, who improve to 8-2 on the season.

The team travels to the Carmichael tournament Saturday, which features 42 teams.
