Whittell’s White makes top 10 list for student-athletes
ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. — Whittell senior Anna White was named a top 10 student-athlete in Northern Nevada by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association and One Nevada Credit Union and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
White was named to the list recently at the 27th annual NIAA/One Nevada Top Ten Student-Athletes of the Year awards banquets in Las Vegas and Reno.
The student-athletes of the year awards are presented to the students who excel in sports, maintain a high academic status and volunteer in their community. Winners received commemorative awards from the NIAA and One Nevada Credit Union. One Nevada’s support increased the existing NIAA student-athlete scholarship awards from $500 to $1,000 per scholarship.
“The spirit of the Silver State is embodied in high school athletics and activities,” Bart Thompson, executive director of the NIAA said. “The Top Ten winners we honored this year have achieved and maintained an exceptionally high level of excellence in all aspects of their lives.”
