Smead wins most improved award at Vans Hi-Standard Snowboard series

TWIN BRIDGES, Calif. — South Shore minigrom and Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School kindergartner Devon Smead was awarded most improved at the prestigious Vans Hi-Standard Snowboard series on Saturday, March 19, at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.

Smead, 6, was the youngest competitor at the event, and showed courage and overcame his fears pulling methods and 180s off the huge jumps and rails. He accepted the award from Vans pros Hana Beamen and Nick Poohachoff.
