Zaskoda seizes Women in Sports Day

Whittell High senior Erin Zaskoda seized the day on Wednesday – National Girls and Women in Sports Day, that is.

The Nevada chapter of the Women’s Sports Foundation recognized Zaskoda for her exceptional performances for Whittell’s volleyball and track and field teams. She joins 10 other Whittell alumnae – Sarah Sufka and Aurora Terry (1999), Rebecca Fore (1998), Skye McEntire (1997), Jessica Fore (1996), Laura Spear (1995), Jennifer Harrison (1994), Lauren Maselli (1993), Kelly Smith (1992) and Cindi Gyll (1991) – as winners of the awards.

The theme for the 14th annual National Women and Girls in Sports Day is, Our Day Every Day. The death of Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman in 1987 inspired the foundation to create the first of the days.
