ZEPHYR COVE — Ropers and Wranglers aren’t normal tennis attire, but players at Zephyr Cove Tennis Club don’t care. They are going country for a day for the club’s August doubles mixer.

With the July mixer being rained out, the club is carrying over the Country Fried Hump Day theme to this month’s event, which will be held Wednesday, Aug. 12. Players are encouraged to wear country apparel.

The latest hump day mixer will feature barbecue chicken, raffle prizes and adult doubles round robin play for all ability levels. The tennis is semi-serious with an emphasis on fun. Play starts at 5:30 p.m.

The mixer costs $10 for club members, $15 for non-members and $5 for spectators (meal only). Club membership is $80 per year — to join, visit http://www.zctennis.com/about/membership or do so the night of the event.

Participants of Hump Day events are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert, as well as beverage of choice. No advance signup is required.

Zephyr Cove Tennis Club has six courts nestled in the woods overlooking Lake Tahoe that are open to the public. The club offers lessons for all ages, membership, social mixers and open play — it is located on Warrior Way off Highway 50 in Zephyr Cove. For more info, visit http://www.zctennis.com.
