Men going door to door in Incline Village asking for money; sheriff’s office suggests exercising caution

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating complaints about suspicious parties going door to door asking for money.

The sheriff’s office has received several calls from the Incline Village area concerning the behavior, Bob Harmon, public information officer with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, told the Tribune.

Per the report, three different men are going door to door and telling the occupants they are raising money to try and put a family member through college. The subjects are described as one black male, one Hispanic male and one white male.

Law enforcement has not made contact with any of the suspects and it’s uncertain if there is any unlawful activity occurring, Harmon said.

“The sheriff’s office has been notified and is investigating, but hasn’t been able to make contact with any of the subjects.”

The sheriff’s office recommends exercising caution when unknown people are at the door.

“You’re under no obligation to open your house to anyone you don’t know,” Harmon said.

“Put safety above everything else, and an abundance of caution is recommended.”

If anyone encounters the suspicious behavior Harmon recommends calling either the Incline Village substation at 775-832-4107 or the Washoe County non-emergency dispatch number at 775-785-9276.
