The first “Barton baby” of 2019 was born Jan. 2.

South Lake Tahoe residents Mordey and Shaina Richler, who run Chabad Jewish Center, welcomed a baby boy at 5:38 p.m. on Jan. 2, according to Barton Healthy.

As is custom with his parents’ faith, the baby boy will be named at 8 days of age. At birth he measured 21 inches long, weighing 7 pounds and 7 ounces.

This is the Richler’s third child born at Barton Family Birthing Center. Older sisters Rachel, 5, Chaya, 4, and Rivka, 2, were excited to meet their baby brother and take turns holding him with the help of their grandmother, Bracha Richler, according to Barton.

Both parents come from large families — Mordey is one of 11 children, and Shaina is one of 10.

Barton Health presented the parents with a wagon filled with gifts donated by local businesses and organizations, a tradition of the health care system and community to celebrate the first baby of the new year.
