SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – It’s that time of year as Camp Richardson Resort prepares to kick off their annual Snowshoe Cocktail Races, and this year’s prizes will have you striving to master balance and agility to emerge victorious. Races will be held on January 17, February 21, and March 21 on the snowy shores of Lake Tahoe.

Registrations to participate start at 5 p.m. In addition to the races, to get the party started, there will be live music from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., along with food and drink specials from The Grove Beach Bar and Grill.

The races are free and open to anyone. Natalie Lauinger, Guest Experience Manager at Camp Richardson, said, “This is a huge locals event. People can and will come down that are staying on property, but a lot of locals, whether its employees or other establishments, they come and it’s a good time for them too.”

The event will consist of three different race categories: Men and Women’s Sprint, Obstacle, and Groups of Four. Folks are encouraged to bring their best ideas when it comes to team names.

Prizes will vary between January, February and March. This weekend’s prizes consist of gift cards to local establishments in South Lake Tahoe, gift cards to Camp Richardson’s own The Grove Beach Bar and Grill, a stay in the Historic Camp Richardson Hotel or a cabin on property, as well as Knight Monsters game tickets.

Among Lauinger’s favorite highlights of the event, she said there were a lot of laughs. “I think it’s a really fun time for groups of friends to come out and listen to music, get together and put on an event that’s right on the shores of Lake Tahoe,” said Lauinger. “Sand or snow, the show still goes on.”

Races will begin at 6 p.m. just outside of The Grove and lasting about two hours. The Grove’s winter hours are from 11:30 a.m., to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday, they are open until 7 p.m. with happy hour available every day excluding Saturdays. “We will extend our hours of operation for the events in January, February and March.”
