Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responds to two fatal ski incidents at Heavenly

STATELINE, Nev. – At approximately 11:55 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate fatal ski incidents at Heavenly’s Boulder Lodge.

Heavenly Mountain Resort regretfully confirmed a serious incident that took place on the mountain Friday, February 20 involving a 33-year-old male.

Heavenly Ski Patrol responded to an incident on the intermediate Orion trail. The guest was transported by Patrol to Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District EMS. After further emergency care and evaluation, the skier was pronounced deceased.



The second incident was a serious medical event that took place on the mountain Friday, February 20 involving a 58-year-old male.

Heavenly Ski Patrol responded to a medical incident on the Tamarack Return trail. The guest was transported by Patrol to Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District EMS at the base of Boulder. Following continued emergency care and medical review, the skier was declared deceased.



“On behalf of the entire Heavenly Mountain Resort team, we extend our heartfelt condolences to our guests’ family, friends, and loved ones,” said Shaydar Edelmann, vice president and general manager. “We are appreciative of the efforts of our Ski Patrol team, and the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District.”

The incidents are not connected, and there is no known relationship between the decedents.

Identification of the decedents will be released following notification of next of kin.
