SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev – Pucks and skates return to the ice for the Tahoe Grizzlies’ 19th annual Lake Tahoe Invitational Hockey Tournament in South Lake Tahoe on Jan. 16-19. The tournament, which is scheduled to bring 37 teams, also creates opportunity for more youth to hit the ice.

Tournament funds scholarships for underprivileged players and those new to the sport, making hockey more accessible to a wider range of local families.

Additionally, the tournament’s Mites Skate Event on Jan. 17 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Tahoe Blue Events Center allows all 8U children an opportunity to skate on the ice rink.

The tournament over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend will host matches at both the Tahoe Blue Events Center and Tahoe Ice Arena where players aged 5-17 will compete.

As hosts, the Tahoe Grizzlies will experience the pride of competing at home and utilizing local facilities, including the home ice of the ECHL Tahoe Knight Monsters.

That pride is deepened as the Grizzlies return to the tournament as reigning champions from last year in the 10U and high school divisions. 

As hundreds of players and their families flock to the region to compete and experience Tahoe, the tournament stimulates business for local hotels, restaurants and other tourism-related businesses.
