South Lake Tahoe City Council selects Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the South Lake Tahoe City Council selected Cody Bass to serve as Mayor and Keith Roberts to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore for the 2026 term.
In addition to their duties as City Councilmembers, the Mayor presides over City Council meetings, signs official city documents, and represents the city at ceremonial and community events. Mayor Pro Tempore (Pro Tem) assumes responsibility for the Mayor in the Mayor’s absence.
Mayor Bass was elected to Council in November 2018 and reelected in November 2022. Bass previously served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2023, Mayor in 2024, Mayor Pro Tem in 2025, and Mayor in late 2025, and is currently in the final year of his four-year term, which concludes in November 2026. Mayor Pro Tem Keith Roberts was elected to the City Council in November 2024 and is serving a four-year term.

“I am proud to be appointed as the Mayor and look forward to continuing to serve our community,” said Mayor Bass. “The selection of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem ensures that the City Council continues to operate at full capacity, and we collaboratively continue to address issues that are important to our community.”
“I’m honored to serve as Mayor Pro Tem and to support Mayor Bass and my fellow Councilmembers,” said Mayor Pro Tem Keith Roberts. “I look forward to working together to advance the City’s Strategic Priorities and continuing to focus on the needs of our community.”
