About Curtis Woodman’s “Wayfinder”

“Wayfinder ” is a self-filmed, drone-captured backcountry journey through Lake Tahoe’s Sierra Nevada – steep chutes, powder-laden peaks, cornices, backcountry booters and freestyle antics. Curtis self filmed, edited, produced, and composed the original soundtrack, delivering a deeply personal narrative of resilience and finding direction.

Wayfinder is the latest film in his Spring Break / Union / 32 /Donut Shoppe Era (2022–Present), building upon his successful self produced independent releases of :

  • Rebirth (2023)
  • Curtis Woodman’s From Tahoe with Love (2024)
  • Wayfinder (2025)

Wayfinder builds on his 20+ year legacy of releasing professional snowboarding films that can be broken down into distinct eras.

  • Flow-to-Pro with Santa Cruz – From flow at age 8, via Boreal park and Tahoe backcountry sponsor-me tapes to riding Professionally for Santa Cruz Snowboards, Flux, Dakine, Planet Earth, Von Zipper and Boards N Motion Boardshop; from making his film debut in Santa Cruz snowboards video “The Drift” to traveling Europe and Canada with the Santa Cruz team filming with 411Snow, Curtis got to see first hand what it took to be a pro snowboarder.
  • The Neoproto worldwide explosion (2003–2005) – The famed Neoproto 3 video series by Pierre Minhondo and Justin Eeles was his first big break. Neoproto (2002), Everyday Something (2004, shared part with Stephen Duke) and the legendary Ender part in Some Kinda Life (2005) cemented Curtis’ status as a worldwide professional snowboarder, becoming a cult classic among snowboarding fans.
  • Surfin’ the Sierra (2009–2018) The return to fun; switching from Jib Prodigy to Backcountry Surf finder; releasing a barrage of parts; including Comune’s (PSOTRATSOC1983) and “Black Holes” (2010) scoring the ender part in Think Thank’s Mind the Video Man (2012) followed by a fun part in Think Thank’s Brain Dead and Having a Heart Attack (2013). Arbor’s Surf the Earth allowed Curtis to explore the world with a campaign centered around his own mini-series (2013–2014), Ender part in Warp Wave’s Aurora Boardealis (2016–2017), and New Moon a collaboration with Jim Dunigan (2018). Curtis was particularly busy during this period riding, filming and taking photos for his sponsors; Arbor Snowboards, Comune, Union Bindings, Nike Snowboarding, Ashbury, Howl Gloves, InI Outwear, Sabre, and Offshore Snowshapes.

Now in full creative control, Curtis delivers soul-driven, self-produced backcountry films and serves as a private guide in the Sierra Nevada mountains for some of the world’s best snowboarding crews that need the perfect spot for their next film. Join Curtis as he finds a way to keep releasing breathtaking snowboarding parts under his own direction; with the only purpose of finding the next wave of powder and the stoke that comes with it.
