SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – This week marks the official launch of 50501 Tahoe, the Tahoe Basin Group of 50501. The name 50501 stands for 50 States, 50 Protests, 1 Movement.

50501 Tahoe exists to organize, inform, and mobilize local communities within the Tahoe Basin. We believe democracy only works when people show up, stay engaged, and hold power accountable. This group will share actions, host events, provide resources, and define ways to get involved locally while staying connected to the broader national movement. 50501 Tahoe will stand up social media campaigns, protests, rallies and marches that can create awareness and advocate for the crucial social and political issues facing our country, state and all of the Tahoe Basin communities. Our leadership consists of event organizers, coalition builders and social media creation coordinators.

This team is led by Amy Machin-Ward, local organizer for past SLT protest events and Beck Machin Ward, Founder of the Young Democrats Committee at LTCC, Youth Development Coordinator for the SLT Democrats Club and social media creator.
