Juvenile suspect arrested for attempted murder after stabbing
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On August 11, 2026, at approximately 6:36 p.m., South Lake Tahoe police officers responded to the report of a stabbing at Whole Foods. Officers arrived on scene and located a 42-year-old male victim of South Lake Tahoe, being tended to by witnesses in the outdoor seating area at Whole Foods. The victim had received multiple stabs wounds and was transported to Barton Hospital by ambulance. Officers learned the suspect had fled the area on foot and a description was obtained. Within 5 minutes, South Lake Tahoe offices located and detained the suspect on foot in the Ski Run area. The suspect was identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile of South Lake Tahoe.
Detectives were called out to the scene to continue the investigation. The investigation revealed the suspect and the victim are unknown to each other and the stabbing was unprovoked. The juvenile suspect was booked into the El Dorado County Juvenile Treatment Center for attempted murder and is being held without bail. The case remains an active investigation.
The victim remains in the hospital, in stable condition.
