SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As community members struggle to put food on their tables, St. Theresa’s Bread & Broth continues to welcome anyone in need of a full-course, hot meal. The organization serves its Monday Meal from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall and its Friday Second Serving Meal from 4 to 5 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church.

Bread & Broth’s ability to provide twice weekly meals is made possible by the generosity of local stores, donations made by individuals, families, and organizations, and Adopt A Day of Nourishment sponsors. With all of these generous funding sources, Bread & Broth has been able to serve up to 170 dinner guests at the Monday Meal and up to 60 dinner guests at a Second Serving Meal.

In an effort to promote the inclusion of as many members of the community as possible in the Monday Meal dinner service, Bread & Broth implemented the Adopt A Day of Nourishment in 2011. Currently, the sponsorship donation fee is $350, and sponsors provide an Adopt A Day crew of up to five people to support the B&B Volunteers with the meal’s setup, serving, and take down/cleanup.

Liberty is one of the community businesses that has been supporting the Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) program by hosting up to 6 dinners a year. Liberty’s latest sponsorship was on Monday, October 12th and the AAD crew representing Liberty included Breanna Kelly, Program Manager; James Martin, Billing Analyst; Kevin Newmark, Facilities/Fleet; and Eric Oiler, Vegetation Management.

“It was fulfilling working with the Bread & Broth volunteer team, many of which I had just met, to achieve a common goal by helping the community,” shared Eric. “Everyone I met had a smile on their face and was in good spirits. It felt good to be a part of that and hopefully contribute to making some one’s day.”

Based on the dinner guests’ smiles and appreciative words, Eric and his fellow Liberty team members definitely made a meaningful contribution to the evening. Bread & Broth appreciates the commitment of Liberty to support the organization’s efforts to ease hunger in the community and expresses its thanks to all of the Liberty team members who have given of their time and effort to participate in feeding B&B’s dinner guests.
