Previous LTUSD Superintendent chosen as NIAA’s executive director

The NIAA Board of Control selected its next executive director Wednesday afternoon, naming Todd Cutler as the seventh executive director by a 7-5 vote.
He replaces Timothy Jackson, who served in the position for two years before stepping down August 1.
Cutler has been the Superintendent in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District since July 2020.
The newest executive director began his school administration career in 1998.
“I need to be an effective communicator. That’s always how you lead is with communication, and building relationships,” said Cutler, during his final interview Wednesday.
BACKGROUND
Cutler moved to Douglas County when he was a child and he grew up in Douglas County where he attended George Whittell High School.
He was the mayor of Fernley from January 2007 to July 2009 when he resigned to join the Lassen Union High School District as the superintendent.
Cutler has a bachelor’s in secondary education from New Mexico State University before going on to earn his masters in education administration from the University of Phoenix.
He earned his doctorate degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Cutler joined the New Mexico State athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 and was a three-time Big West all-conference football player from 1990-92.
