SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On Friday, June 12, an excavator began its process of demolishing the building which was previously home to Chevys Fresh Mex before the restaurant unexpectedly closed its doors in December of 2016.

The large building, located at 3678 Lake Tahoe Blvd between the Postmarc Hotel and Red Hut Cafe, has been vacant and deemed abandoned, with reports of vandalization in the form of graffiti and broken windows. The structure sat empty for close to a decade with boarded up windows and doors.

According to the city of South Lake Tahoe, a demolition permit was issued for the location, although no development plans have been submitted.

A pre-application meeting has been requested to discuss potential development options for the location.
