INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD) may conduct pile burning during the week of October 19, 2026, weather and fuel conditions permitting. NLTFPD expects pile-burning operations to continue through the winter, with burns conducted only when weather, moisture, humidity and fuel conditions are favorable.

Residents and visitors may see smoke in the area during these controlled burns. NLTFPD will share the location of planned burns through its social media platforms and the Prescribed Fire Notification/Smoke-Sensitive email groups.

If you see smoke from a burn announced by NLTFPD, please do not call 911 to report it. If smoke appears to be from an unannounced fire or there is an immediate threat to life or property, call 911.

To join either email group, send a written request to Public Information Officer (PIO) Andreina Quiroz at aquiroz@nltfpd.net.
