The Tahoe Forum on Health & Resilience will spotlight TFHS physicians, local search and rescue first responders, and national keynote speakers for a day of bold ideas about the future of health and resilience in mountain communities

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Tahoe Forest Health System announced Beyond Possible, the health system’s first-ever thought leadership forum, taking place Friday, September 25, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Everline Resort & Spa in Olympic Valley.

Billed as the Tahoe Forum on Health & Resilience, the event will bring together healthcare leaders, innovators, search and rescue professionals and community partners for a day of bold ideas, inspiring stories and meaningful conversations about the future of health and resilience.

Beyond Possible will feature the Thomas D. Hobday Medical Lectureship, established in keeping with Tom Hobday’s vision to bring the community together around cutting-edge medical research and help the hospital excel across all disciplines.

TFHS Physicians and Search and Rescue Take Center Stage

Alongside its national keynote speakers, Beyond Possible will spotlight the region’s own medical and emergency response expertise through two dedicated panel discussions:

• The Tahoe Forest Health System Clinical Innovation Panel will bring together TFHS physicians Dr. Brian Evans, Dr. Ellen Cooper, Dr. Thomas Semrad and Dr. Aaron Gladman for a conversation on advances in clinical care and what’s next for medicine in mountain communities.
• The Search & Rescue Panel will highlight the work of local first responders, including members of Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue (TNSAR) alongside Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon, Dr. John Swanson, Logan Talbott and Dr. Eric Stendell, discussing the realities of backcountry rescue and emergency response in the Sierra.

Keynote Speakers

The forum will also feature two national keynote speakers:

• Jim Morrison, a The North Face-sponsored mountain athlete and National Geographic featured mountaineer, will join Emmy Award-winning news anchor Deirdre Fitzpatrick for a fireside chat and Q&A on resilience, risk and leadership including his journey to become the first person to ski the Hornbein Couloir on Mount Everest.
• Dr. Gurpreet Dhaliwal, Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, will deliver the Thomas D. Hobday Medical Lectureship. Widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading master diagnosticians, Dr. Dhaliwal sees patients and teaches medical students and residents in the emergency department, inpatient wards and outpatient clinic at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, where he directs the internal medicine clerkship. His work focuses on how physicians reason through diagnoses, build diagnostic expertise and integrate technology into clinical thinking.
