The Hot Spot Studios brings new fun and creativity to South Lake Tahoe
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif., – If you’re looking to scratch a creative itch, set your sights on The Hot Spot Studios. From the cozy and inviting ambiance, to the aromatic smell in the air, the business brings imagination to the forefront, no matter what age you are, by offering fun activities such as candle-making, pottery painting and more.

When Tenaya Durfy had the idea of opening The Hot Spot Studios franchise in South Lake Tahoe, she called founder and CEO Olivia Parsons, and the two put their heads together to find a space fitting of their creative ventures.
Durfy, a California local, grew up immersed in art, and has been in customer service in Tahoe for over 25 years.
“It’s the perfect blend, I get to be here helping people create art, but then I also get to do the organization and business end of it, too,” Durfy said.
A mother of three, Durfy finds herself extremely busy these days. The perks of The Hot Spot Studios is she gets to bring her kids with her, and they get to hang out with other homeschoolers every week, even offering for parents to drop their kids off if they have an errand to run.
“We got set up as a homeschool vendor with Clarkesville,” said Durfy. “Mondays and Wednesdays, kids come and we do crafts. Watercolors, air clay, and finger-knitting, things that build sensory skills.”
The studio has wifi and a table outside for parents who need to work while their kids enjoy crafts. It’s also great for those wanting to take a break from colder-weather ventures.
With no studio fee, someone can walk in, pick one of the seven craft activities and get started.
“There’s pottery, candles, mosaics, succulent gardens, canvas painting, you can play with slime, or make a body scrub,” said Durfy. “There’s really something for everyone. It doesn’t matter what age you are, or what experience.”
Durfy aims to make The Hot Spot Studios a place where you can come as yourself, and just be yourself.
With a ribbon-cutting event planned for November 6, The Hot Spot Studios welcomes everyone to join and get their creative juices flowing. Grab a to-go art kit, or sign up for a lifetime membership for a one-time fee.
The Hot Spot Studios is located at 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd, Suite 15A in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. For more information, visit their website thehotspotstudios.com, or reach them by phone at (530) 318-5646.
