Dance Visions does well in competition

Dance Visions Performing Arts Team competed in Sacramento Feb. 17 and 18 at the Rainbow Connection Regional Dance Competition.

In the first competition of the year, Dance Visions took the majority of the awards.

“Strings Gone Crazy” won lst Place Overall Large Group (age 9-12) and received a $150 cash award. “Strings” also qualified for the World Dance Challenge to compete in the national competition. “Dirty Tahoe” with Alexis Arens, Ali Dauscher, Casey Huber, Jessica Shull, Jessica Wahl, Jillian Raney, Meredith Grasso, Riana Cerceo and Suzie Elias won 1st Place Overall and Small Group (age 13-15) and received a $100 cash award and qualified for the WDC. Winning lst Place Overall Small Group (age 9-12) and qualifying for WDC and a $100 cash award was Dance Visions Mini Teams’ “Another Cha Cha” with Dismas Womack, Abigail Killebrew, Corinne Novotny and Lauren George.



In the Overall Small Group (age 9-12) category, 2nd Place went to “Kick Bustin” with Meredith Grasso, Ali and Jillian Dauscher, Suzie Elilas, Casey Huber and Alexis Arens; 3rd Place was awarded to the acrobatic routine, “Vacation,” with Whitney Gardner, Jillian Raney, Lauren George, Suzie Elias, Alexis Arens, Ali and Jullian Dauscher, Casey Huber and Corinne Novotny; 4th Place went to “76 Trombones” with Amanda Shull, Abigail Killebrew, Casey Huber, Corinne Novotny, Suzie Elias and Lauren George; 9th Place went to “Stuff Like That There” with Sabrina Swoger, Jenna Fragola, Bailey Adams, Casey Huber and Amanda Shull.

For ages 9-12 Duo/Trio Category, the top three overall awards went to Dance Visions, all scoring enough points to qualify for WDC. Casey Huber and Suzie Elias took lst Place with “Rhythm Biz” winning $75 and 2nd Place with “Think;” 3rd Place went to Riana Cerceo and Suzie Elias for “Brave and Crazy”; 7th Place went to “Diva Duel” with Corinne Novotny and Abigail Killebrew; “Join the Circus” with Lauren George and Jillian Dauscer scored a High First Place.



In the age 13-15 Duo/Trio Division, $75 and lst Place Overall and WDC qualification went to “Steam Heat” with Kevin Novotny, Ali Dausher and Dino Elias; 4th Place Overall went to Alexis Arens and Riana Cerceo for “Da Look”; 6th Placer Overall went to Jessica Shull and Jessica Wahl for “Jwal & Fitz”; 8th Overall went to Carleigh, Jullian and Ali Dauscher for “Sisters”; 9th Overall went to Katherine and Meredith Grasso for “Renegade.” “Together We Can” with Jenna Fragola and Sabrina Swoger scored a first-place award. “I Need a Hero” with Meredith Grasso, Morgan King and Whitney Gardner, and choreographed by Katherine Grasso won 1st Placer for Student Choreography.

In the age 13-15 Small Group Category, 2nd Place Overall was awarded to “Men Get Lonely” with Dino Elias, Ali and Carleigh Dauscher and Jillian Raney. 4th Overall went to the tap routine “Taxi Driver” with Riana Cerceo, Dino Elias, Jessica Shull, Jessica Wahl, Katherine and Meredith Grasso and Jillian Dauscher; 6th Place Overall went to Dance Vision’ Senior team of Jessica Shull, Jessica Wahl, Kaitlin Potnick and Katherine Grasso for “Coming Up”; 7th Overall went to “All That Jazz” with Amanda and Jessica Shull, Bailey Adams, Jillian and Carleigh Dauscher, Jenna Fragola, Jessica Wahl, Meredith Grasso, Morgan King and Sabrina Swoger; 9th Place Overall was awarded to the Senior Team for “He’s A Dream.”

Riana Cerceo was awarded 1st Place Overall Solo in the 13-15 age division as well as a $75 cash award for “Show Off”; 2nd Overall went to Ali Dauscher for “Strongest Suit”; 3rd Overall went to Jessica Shull for “Ain’t No Other Man” and Dancer of the Year qualification; 6th Overall went to Meredith Grasso for “Right Now”; 8th Overall was awarded to Jillian Raney for “Fever On Fire”; 10th Overall and a DOY qualification went to Jessica Wahl for “Good to Mama.” High First Place Scores went to Riana Cerceo for “Rain,” Jillian Dauscher for “Dance With Me,” Alexis Arens for “7 Nation Army” and Jessica Wahl for “You Better Run.” First-place Awards went to Jenna Fragola for “More” and Carleigh Dauscher for “About That Walk.”

In the 16 and up Solo Category, Dana Nott to 4th Place Overall for “Never Alone” and Kaitlin Potnick was awarded 7th Place Overall for “Hanky Panky.” High First Place Awards also went to Dana Nott for “Am I Throwing You Off” and “Take Me Baby.”

In the age 9-12 Solo Division, Susie Elias scored enough points to qualify for WDC and DOY. High First Place Awards were also given to Casey Huber for “Burnin’ Love” qualifying for DOY, Whitney Gardner for “Dainty June,” Abigail Killebrew for “Dance My Dream” and Lauren George for “Hot Shot.” First -place Awards went to Corinne Novotny for “Teach Me How to Shimmy” and to Sabrina Swoger for “Here I Am.”

Choreographers for the routines were Raquel Alvarez, Joan Elias, Sharie Jones, Brandy Stiles, Sydney Overcash and Ryan Curren.
