Visitors and employees at one South Shore casino helped raise more than $13,000 that will help cancer patients.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe reported raising $13,134 — more than double the resort’s original goal — during the property-wide “Pinktober” event in October, according to a press release.

The money was presented on Dec. 1 to South Lake Tahoe Cancer League President JoAnn Conner, and will support the nonprofit’s efforts to provide no-cost resources to cancer patients in active treatment.

Funding for South Lake Tahoe Cancer League comes entirely from individual and business donations, according to the press release.

Hard Rock organized “Pinktober®” to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, asking employees to contribute and donating portions of the proceeds from sales of limited edition T-shirts, pins, and certain beverages to the month-long initiative.
